Brief: Stillwater School Board Approves Proposed Non-Voter Levy

The Stillwater Area School Board approved the proposed 2011 Property Tax Levy during a special meeting Wednesday evening.

The Stillwater Area School Board approved the proposed 2011 Property Tax Levy  during a special meeting Wednesday evening.

This levy is different than the levy on the ballot for this November.

The state requires the district to levy 105 percent of the amount needed each year to ensure enough resources to meet the debt service obligations, according to Assistant Superintendent Ray Queener.

The total levy being proposed for 2011 is $31,288,959.97. This is a projected increase of 2.3 percent from last year’s levy.

Currently, the school district does not have the exact tax rate for properties in 2012 until January. The school board will have estimates at the Board Business Meeting in December.
