School Board: Stillwater Bids Awarded for ECFE Center

Sept. 22 School Board Meeting Overview

Stillwater Area School Board approved the eight construction bids for the new Early Childhood Center Thursday night. Although bids were higher than estimated, the project is still under the $11 million budget.

In other school board news:

  • On Oct. 7, former Stillwater High school Coach George Thole will be honored at the new Coach’s Corner memorial at Stillwater High School.
  • Assistant Superintendent Chris Lennox presented the 2010-2011 Annual Report. The report stated Stillwater students earn higher ACT scores than students statewide and nationwide, and more students are enrolling in Advanced Placement classes. Stillwater students also outperformed other students across the state in MCA scores. To view the entire report visit: (www.stillwater.k12.mn.us).
  • Principal Tom Hobert from Afton Lakeland Elementary School educated the board on their STEM labs. (Look for a complete story soon.)

The school board will have a special meeting at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28  to certify the levy questions.

The next regular meeting will be on Oct. 13. Both meetings are open to the public and meet at Stillwater City Hall.
