Valley Outreach Collects School Supplies For Kids

Valley Outreach is seeking donations of backpacks and back-to-school necessities for its annual school supply drive to help local kids get off to a good start this September. 

The community-based nonprofit will be collecting donations during Summer Tuesdays tomorrow (Aug. 9) at for more than 250 children registered for assistance.

• Drop-off times: Mondays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.; Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.; Thursdays between 5-8 p.m.; and Fridays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

What’s needed:

• Donations are being sought for elementary school children include: backpacks; wide ruled notebooks; folders (heavy duty with pockets); ballpoint pens; dry erase markers; washable markers; highlighters; No. 2 pencils; pencil sharpeners; pencil/pen cases; crayons; rulers; colored pencils; safety scissors; erasers; hand sanitizers; 3-ring binders with pockets; Kleenex; Zip-loc sandwich bags; Zip-loc freezer bags; watercolor paints; black Sharpie permanent markers; 3" x 5" index cards; glue sticks; composition notebooks; clipboards and calculators.
• Donations sought for junior and senior high school students registered include: large backpacks; organizers; mechanical pencils; 3-ring binders with pockets; 3" x 5" index cards; protractor compasses; scientific calculators; TI-83 Plus graphing.

Last year Valley Outreach set a record during its annual school supply drive when it outfitted 304 Stillwater Area School District students with backpacks full of school supplies.

Registrations for school supply assistance is on pace this year to set yet another record.
