Washington County Historical Society - Give to the Max Day!

The Washington County Historical Society is attempting to raise funds for a new Washington County Heritage Center through the Give to the Max Day! program.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I'd like to take a moment to just say how thankful I am for the Washington County Historical Society. Even if I didn't work for WCHS, I would still appreciate the amount of effort required to preserve our county history. But the employees here aren't the only ones to put effort into this critically important task.

Obviously the most important piece of the 'effort pie' is community support. And this year, Washington County's residents has certainly given us tremendous backing. This year, an astounishing 1,803 individuals came through the Warden's House and I'd like to thank every person who walked in through our doors. Without you, none of this would be possible and any effort would be wasted.

Now we just ask for a little bit more.

This Thursday, November 15th is 'Give to the Max Day!" in Minnesota. Non-profits around the state will ask their supporters to focus their donations on this specific day to raise awareness. The organizations that raise the most money will be awarded additional funds as well.

This year fundraising is especially important for the WCHS because of our goal to purchase a new Washington County Heritage Center.  This new site will improve our ability to store and display our collection of artifacts.  The additional space will also allow us to attract touring exhibits to Stillwater from the Smithsonian, Minnesota State Historical Society, and other organizations.

If you have any questions concerning the new Washington County Heritage Center, please call 651-439-5956 or email me at spallas.wchs@gmail.com.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Although it seems to not be the best use of our police officer's time, calling the police seems toRead More be the answer. In our neighborhood, we have been told time and time again by the city council, that they don't know if there is a problem, or how frequent that problem is, unless citizens call the police. Now, whether you can get the police to do something about it, is a completely different subject as most shrug you off as if you are nothing more than an annoying gnat. It would certainly be nice if the city would consider some sort of written complaint procedure.
