If You Want to Keep Lumberjack Days Local, Email Your City Council Member

The Stillwater City Council members have their work cut out for them this week.

On Thursday, they will hold a special meeting to decide what direction to take Lumberjack Days moving forward.

The council heard four nice proposals over the past month—all of which offer a very different take on what Stillwater’s community festival should look like.

You can watch all four proposals at this link.

The council has sought public input every step of the way in this process, and now is the time to let your representative—and Mayor Ken Harycki—know your thoughts on a replacement for Lumberjack Days.

Over the weekend, a Keep Lumberjack Days Local Facebook page was launched—and in just a few days gained nearly 700 likes. That’s an unbelievable amount of support, but it’s not enough.

It appears that the decision will ultimately be made between The Locals’ Logjam Festival, and Mid-America Festivals Corporation’s vision, Stillwater River City Days.

If you want to keep Lumberjack Days local, please make your voice heard. Tell the council you would like to see them give The Locals a chance to produce our community festival.

Who better to run a community event, than community members who will still be living—and doing business—here when it’s over.

Their proposal is a throwback to the good old days.

It’s local, it calls for transparency and this group is deeply invested in our community. The Locals appear to be interested in hearing all opinions and ideas from our community, for our community event.

If you agree that Lumberjack Days should stay a local event, please email the mayor and council and let them know that you want the local tradition of LJD to continue.
