Hastings Mounts Big Comeback, Hands Ponies First Loss of Season

Down by 8 points with less than 4 minutes left in regulation, Hastings marched 99 yards down the field against the Ponies defense—scored a touchdown and converted a two-point attempt with 3 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

The Ponies were handed their first loss of the season Friday night b a resilient Hastings team.

On their first possession in OT, Stillwater Running Back Zach Knox ran the ball in from 6 yards out to take a 34-28 lead. The Ponies elected to go for 2, and were stuffed by the Hastings defense.

On the next possession, Hastings Quarterback Brandon McCarthy ran the ball into the end zone, and the Raiders kicked the extra point to hand Stillwater their first loss of the year.

Hastings rallied back from a 28-point deficit in the second half to win 35-34 in overtime. The loss drops the Ponies to 3-1 in the Suburban East Conference.
