Ponies Fall to Cretin-Derham Hall

Stillwater was shut out in the section opener.

It was a tough loss for Stillwater Area High School Friday as Cretin-Derham Hall blanked the Ponies 41-0 in a section playoff game.

The result stung all the more because Stillwater had defeated the Raiders before a national ESPN2 television audience earlier in the season.

Raiders running back Blake Banham scored three first-half touchdowns. The Star Tribune noted that he had injured his ankle in the previous Stillwater game and wasn't as much of a factor then.

"Stillwater was able to run the ball effectively at times," KSTP reported

Stillwater coach Beau LaBore gave credit to his team after the game. "Being shut out, being rolled up, it's disappointing, but our guys have come back willing to work hard and get better, and that's more important," LaBore told the St. Paul Pioneer Press
