Summer in Stillwater: Reserve a Spot for the 'Light a Spark' Event on the Fourth of July

If you're looking for a way to catch Stillwater's Fourth of July fireworks, minus the mosquitoes, reserve your space for Light a Spark for the Library.

Are you looking for a unique —under the stars, yet out of reach of mosquitoes.

Well, here's an idea.

Light a Spark is the major annual fundraising event by the Stillwater Public Library Foundation, a nonprofit group with a mission to raise funds to enhance the library’s programs and collections.

The event will be held from 7-11 p.m. at the Stillwater Public Library. Admission is $30 for adults and teens, $20 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 years are free. The amount of each ticket minus $10 is tax-deductible.

Light a Spark is dedicated to the memory of Dick Huelsmann, who provided the strong leadership for the renovation and expansion of the Stillwater Public Library, which was completed in 2006.

Prior to the spectacular view of the fireworks over the St. Croix River, guests will be entertained by Kailen the Dynamic DJ and Matt the Amazing Magician. Lots of activities are planned for kids.

“That was the most fun I’ve ever had in my whole life,” 4-year-old Evan Gustafson said after his first Light a Spark event.

A hike around the terrace—better known as the cakewalk—can yield a beautifully decorated and delicious cake from BreadArt, Buttercream Cakes and Desserts, Café Latte, , , or .

Throughout the evening guests will enjoy sweet and savory treats from Joseph’s, plus local beer and wine.
