Youth Advantage Competes in Give to the Max Day "Youth Video Contest" & More

Youth Advantage, a St. Croix Valley nonprofit serving disadvantaged youth, participates in Give to the Max Day's (GTMD) Youth Video Contest & selected as a GTMD Live Stream Interviewee.

On Thursday, November 15th, St. Croix Valley residents will have the opportunity to participate in something truly unique in Minnesota while benefiting kids in our community. Give to the Max Day (GTMD) is a single-day online fundraising event that brings millions of dollars to Minnesota nonprofit organizations annually. Local nonprofit Youth Advantage is participating in GTMD, with a goal of raising $5,000 to support their work helping disadvantaged kids in the St. Croix Valley participate in extracurricular activities. In 2012, Youth Advantage provided scholarships to 275 kids, helping them engage in athletics, music, visual arts and academic programs. With your donations, we can reach even more youth in our community in the coming year.

There are many ways to get involved.

1.      Donate. On November 15th, go to the Give to the Max Day website at givemn.org.  Search for Youth Advantage (or click on the link to our video in item #2 below) and donate.  Youth Advantage is signed up for the Small Nonprofit Leaderboard, enabling it to win an extra $1,000-$12,500 if it is among the top ten organizations in donations for the day. There are $1,300 in match dollars pledged by Youth Advantage supporters, so the first $1,300 donated on GTMD will be doubled!

2.      Spread the word.  Watch the Youth Advantage video at this link: http://givemn.razoo.com/story/Youth-Video-Contest-Youth-Advantage .  Share it on Facebook or with your email address book. The video has been entered into a contest sponsored by GiveMN, the organizer behind Give to the Max Day and Youthprise. If chosen the winner by a panel of youth and Youthprise staff, Youth Advantage receives an additional $5,000.

3.      Watch and spread the word again. Youth Advantage has been chosen for a live stream interview on Give to the Max Day at Mall of America! You can watch it at givemn.org at 9:50 a.m. on November 15th. The interview will last about five minutes. We will talk about our organization and why people should donate to it on Give to the Max Day.

4.      Become our fan on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. You will stay current on urgent athletic equipment and musical instrument needs, ways to get involved, and learn about happenings in our community.

If you participated in extracurricular activities when you were younger, you know the value they provide – teamwork, responsibility, physical and mental strength, diversity and a sense of community. These experiences outside of the classroom keep youth engaged in healthy activities now, and often shape who they become later in life. As one 11 year-old Youth Advantage client said, “If Youth Advantage didn’t help me play baseball and hockey, I would be playing a lot more video games and watching TV.” Your donation will put more kids on “the field” and keep more kids off the couch!
