Breakfast with Santa Benefits Valley Outreach Food Shelf

A Breakfast with Santa event at Applebee's on Saturday morning (Dec. 17) will benefit a growing number of families visiting the Valley Outreach food shelf in Stillwater.

The number of families and individuals visiting the Valley Outreach food shelf in Stillwater each month has skyrocketed in recent years—to the point where the food shelf currently is giving away twice the amount of food as compared to 2007.

“Like other food shelves in the state, we are experiencing dramatic increases in the number of families we help feed," said Cara McLain, the director of the food shelf. “Keeping pace with the rising need for food is definitely challenging and it is an ongoing struggle to keep our shelves stocked.”

Valley Outreach is spending an average of $6,000 each month to purchase food from the food bank partner agencies.
