SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: Public Safety Emergency Exercise on the St. Croix

Washington County and the city of Stillwater are planning to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on the St. Croix River on Thursday Sept. 13. Volunteers are needed.

The exercise will happen Thursday, Sept. 13 from 3-8 p.m. at the Riverboat and Grand Ballroom in downtown Stillwater.

The scenario includes a wedding party aboard a river paddleboat involved in an accident. As part of the exercise, a family assistance center will be set up for the paddleboat survivors, and their family/friends.

Food will be served as a part of this exercise.

The city and county are seeking volunteers to participate as:

• Wedding guests on the boat, who would play as injured and transported in an ambulance to a hospital;

• Wedding guests on the boat who would play as non-inured and sent to the family assistance center;

• And family/friends to report to the family assistance center looking for wedding party survivors.
