For many, the Lake Elmo Public Library would be a good alternative. This is especially true forRead More Lake Elmo residents in the NW corner of the City who have lost their route to the Mahtomedi Library since the County put in place a permanent detour for access to Hwy 36. As usual, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing and this won't go away when the library repairs are made.

The alternative to using sand are 3M glass beads - tiny, hollow, bubbles which are much lighter, lessRead More costly to transport and should never get dumped into the St. Croix. Just saying this kind of an action makes them even more competitive.

This is one of my pet peeves: it's not a hot water heater, it's a water heater. If the water wasRead More already hot, a heater would not be needed. <sigh>

The more I hear from her the more I like. Simple is good: She wants to give us our money back. SheRead More wants Dayton to call a special session to fix MN Sure. What's not to like?
Edward December 20, 2013 at 10:19 pm
Roy, she's grandstanding. There's nothing of substance there.
Roy Roscoe December 20, 2013 at 10:34 pm
I wish Dayton would grandstand with a tax refund and a fix for MN Sure! If he doesn't I'll pick theRead More grandstander who will.

If another child had already died then I believe there was a responsibility to warn and postRead More warnings. A GD'd noseplug is ALL it would have taken to prevent this child's death and authorities KNEW IT. If a cougar had killed a child and then your child was killed by a cougar at the same spot, would!!! Cougars occur in nature, and what kind of a STUPID ruling says that the government isn't responsible for anything that naturally occurs in nature? The E Coli example was a good one, but there are MANY more. They post signs about falling rocks, slippery when wet and everything else under the sun, but THIS isn't their responsibility? B.S. ! This is a rare amoebae and does only occur when water temps reach over something like 80 degrees, it doesn't have to be extremely hot, AND outdoor temperature is irrelevant - many lakes retain cold or colder water even when it's hot outside - it's the temperature of the WATER that is relevant. And I'm sorry, but if there had been no previous death then the judge would have been right to throw out the case, but the pre knowledge of another death DOES make them legally liable. The judge is retarded and also a COWARD.

Merely making an unsupported statement that something is needed to the exclusion of all otherRead More options or concerns is foolish and a non-argument. Stillwater, Oak Park Heights and Bayport will suffer a huge increase in traffic and noise(and probably crime) due to increased access and the traffic that will be encouraged by the development of Western Wisconsin. Build it and they will come.
Robert McManus December 10, 2013 at 11:38 am
Attacking the messenger instead of the message is an old tactic. It still doesn't hold any water.Read More But much of our lives are dictated by the idiocies exemplified by the bridge: over reliance on the automobile and by extension petroleum and various petrochemicals that you are correct in stating numerous people mindlessly deposit on their lawns and which go directly into the river. I agree, American lawn is an abomination. There aren't many houses along the bridge corridor… yet. Rhetorical repetition of your conclusion that Stillwater needed a new bridge doesn't make it valid. And it certainly didn't need this bridge. Various people may have WANTED it. But desire does not necessity make.
Robert McManus December 10, 2013 at 08:48 pm
Believe me my friend, I am much more personally involved in conservation and the environment thanRead More you could possible be unless you are volunteering on a nearly daily basis and have land in a conservation easement that is directly benefitting the future of natural communities in the valley. Perhaps instead of engaging in ad hominem attacks on a person you clearly reflexively disagree with, i.e. not on a rational level, perhaps you need to examine why, when encountering a view different from your own you feel the need to try to shut that view down. What exactly scares you so much? Are you concerned I might be right?
