UPDATE: Scandia Firefighter Dies after Highway 36 Crash at Manning Avenue

A 42-year-old Scandia man died after a crash on Highway 36 near Manning Avenue this morning in Lake Elmo, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 42-year-old Scandia man died today after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 36 at Manning Avenue. John R. Larson, a Scandia firefighter, was driving eastbound on Highway 36 in a 1997 Saturn, and had a green arrow to go northbound on Manning Avenue, according to the State Patrol, when he was broad-sided by a 2010 Dodge Caravan driven by Kenneth Tougaw, 40, of Bayport. Larson died as a result of the crash, according to the State Patrol. Tougaw reportedly suffered minor injuries. Larson was a White Bear Lake native and a nine-year member of the Scandia Fire and Rescue Department, according to the Pioneer Press. He was also the rescue training captain. Possibly unintentional vehicular homicide. It depends on so many thing though. Intoxicated, on medications, disabled, texting/on the phone, asleep, having a medical condition (ex: seizure) it will be a while for the legal system to do its work and to see if charges are filled by the state or wash co.   more ›

State Patrol: Lake Elmo Man Suffered Cardiac Arrest Prior to Fatal Crash

A 59-year old Lake Elmo driver went into cardiac arrest before rear-ending a SUV Wednesday evening at the intersection of Highway 36 and Oakgreen Avenue, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 59-year old Lake Elmo man died after going into cardiac arrest behind the wheel of his truck Wednesday evening and crashing into a SUV that was stopped at the intersection of Highway 36 and Oakgreen Avenue. The Minnesota State Patrol believes Michael Reinhardt suffered a cardiac arrest prior to rear-ending a Chevy Tahoe that was stopped in the left turn lane on eastbound Highway 36 just before 5:30 p.m. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old Hugo woman, received minor injuries as a result of the crash, according to the crash report. Reinhardt was reportedly transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he died.

UPDATED: Stillwater Sisters Transported After Head-On Crash

A 20-year-old Stillwater woman, a 15-year-old passenger in her vehicle and a 46-year-old St. Paul man are all in "critical condition" after a head-on crash on Highway 5 in Lake Elmo Tuesday night.

Three people were transported to Regions Hospital in critical condition Tuesday night after a head-on crash near Highway 5 and Stillwater Lane in Lake Elmo. According to the Minnesota State Patrol: Marah F. Sobczak, 20, of Stillwater, was driving her 2004 Honda Civic on Highway 5 just after 9 p.m. when a Buick driven by Jon R. Wentz, 46, of St. Paul, crossed over the median into the eastbound lane and struck her vehicle head-on, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The two drivers, and a passenger in the Stillwater woman’s vehicle, Kalley A Sobczak, 15, of Stillwater, were each transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. According to the State Patrol, no alcohol was found in the Stillwater womens' systems. The report lists "unknown" …

A 27-year-old Lake Elmo man died after his motorcyle left the road and hit a tree Monday. The crash has authorities warning riders and vehicle operators to safely share the road during this spring spell of summer-like weather.

UPDATED: High-Speed Chase Starts in Stillwater, Ends in Minneapolis Without Injuries

A 30-year-old St. Paul man led state troopers on a 17-minute chase from Stillwater to Minneapolis this morning before a PIT maneuver brought the pursuit to an end. No injuries were reported.

A high-speed chase involving a Minnesota State Trooper started at the intersection of Osgood and Highway 36 in Stillwater this morning, and ended 17 minutes later—without injuries—at I-35W at Johnson Street in Minneapolis. Lt. Eric Roeske, of the Minnesota State Patrol, tweeted that speeds reached 80 mph as the trooper pursued a 2003 Cadillac Deville driven by a 30-year-old St. Paul man. The chase started just after 6:30 a.m. at Osgood and Highway 36 when a state trooper responded to a report of an erratic driver, Roeske said. The caller reported that the driver swerving all over the road while changing speeds. UPDATED: Hudson Woman in Critical Condition After Head-On Crash on Highway 95

The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting that alcohol as detected on both drivers. Highway 95 was closed in both directions for about two hours following the crash.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in a head-on crash on Highway 95 in Stillwater Friday night that left a 23-year-old Hudson woman is in critical condition. In all, four people were transported to Regions Hospital, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The injuries to three of those people are not believed to be life-threatening. Gavin J. Langer, 28, of Sheboygan, Wis., was traveling southbound on Highway 95 in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am at about 8:53 p.m.when he crossed the center lane and struck a 2003 Audi Quatro driven by John P. Minnesota State Trooper Fatally Shoots Landfall Woman After Being Dragged

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office identified the woman as Debra K. Doree, 48, of Landfall.

A Minnesota state trooper on Saturday fatally shot a woman on Interstate 94 near Century Avenue after being dragged about 200 feet after she tried to flee a traffic stop, officials said. “He’s very lucky tonight that he will be going home to his family,” Lt. Col. Matt Langer of the Minnesota State Patrol said of the trooper, David Kalinoff, at a press conference Saturday. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office identified the woman Sunday as 48-year-old Debra K. Doree, of Landfall, according to Andy Skoogman, public information officer for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Update: Motorcyclist in Fatal Woodbury Crash Identified

Robert Dennis Davis, 30, of Madison Lake, Minn., crashed his motorcycle into a grove of trees while fleeing a trooper in Woodbury this morning. He later died at Regions Hospital.

The 30-year-old Madison Lake motorcyclist who crashed into a grove of trees in Woodbury this morning while allegedly fleeing a Minnesota State Patrol trooper died this afternoon at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Robert Dennis Davis was transported to Regions Hospital shortly after 8 a.m., when his 1993 Honda motorcycle went off the road into a group of trees on Valley Creek Road near Century Avenue, according to Lt. Eric Roeske, a spokesperson for the Minnesota State Patrol. Davis was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Roeske said.
