When Stillwater Area High School staff members arrived to work Wednesday morning, they found profanity had been spray painted on the guard shack, and several pillars at the entrance of the school. As soon as staff became aware of the profanity-laced vandalism, police were called and the vandalism cover-up process began. "The school vandalism was not a hate, race or other related incident, just a student that had been in trouble at the school in the past, which I cannot discuss," Oak Park Heights Police Chief Brian DeRosier said. A 59-year old Lake Elmo driver went into cardiac arrest before rear-ending a SUV Wednesday evening at the intersection of Highway 36 and Oakgreen Avenue, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
A 59-year old Lake Elmo man died after going into cardiac arrest behind the wheel of his truck Wednesday evening and crashing into a SUV that was stopped at the intersection of Highway 36 and Oakgreen Avenue. The Minnesota State Patrol believes Michael Reinhardt suffered a cardiac arrest prior to rear-ending a Chevy Tahoe that was stopped in the left turn lane on eastbound Highway 36 just before 5:30 p.m. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old Hugo woman, received minor injuries as a result of the crash, according to the crash report. Reinhardt was reportedly transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he died.

A 39-year-old Wisconsin mother reportedly stole more than $1,200 of merchandise from Walmart and Cub Foods while at the stores with her children.
A 39-year-old woman from Chetek, Wis., was charged with felony theft after she allegedly stole more than 160 retail items from Walmart and Cub Foods with a teenager and two young children in tote. Oak Park Heights police responded to a report at about 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 28 that Melissa Lynn Mathieu was being detained for shoplifting at Cub Foods in Stillwater. While being detained by security, Mathieu allegedly stated that she had taken numerous items from Walmart in Oak Park Heights and had the stolen items in her vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed last week by the Washington County Attorney’s Office. A Stillwater woman reportedly enjoyed countless pizza dinners and Jimmie John's sandwiches on someone else’s dime when she allegedly stole credit card numbers from the Lexington Inn this summer. Danese Nicole Grant, 26 has been charged by the Washington County Attorney's Office with felony identity theft and felony financial transaction card fraud after three guests at the Lexington Inn found unauthorized charges on their credit card statements. In July, a New York man contacted the Stillwater Police Department and told officers he had two unexplained charges in the Stillwater area.
