Winter Storm Warning: 'Rare May Snow Storm' Forecast Drop 6–9 Inches of Snow on Stillwater

The warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday. Look out for heavy snow falling as fast as 1–2 inches per hour.

Happy May Day. Now that we've taken care of that, there's a new Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service for Stillwater promising "heavy snow"—like as many as 9 inches. We're likely to set a record for the most snow we've ever had in the month of May, according to WCCO-AM. Oh No! More Snow?

National Weather Service forecasters are calling for 2-4 inches of snow across the metro area on Wednesday night, with more than an inch possible on Thursday.

Minnesota weather, famous for its vagaries, may have yet another surprise in store for Twin Cities residents.  National Weather Service forecasters are calling for 2-4 inches of snow across the metro area on Wednesday night, with more than an inch possible on Thursday. The Twin Cities, including Stillwater, will likely see rain beginning late Wednesday morning, according to the weather service. As temperatures fall into the 30s on Wednesday night, that rain may turn into snow. Additional snow is likely before 1 p.m. on Thursday, with rain following on Thursday afternoon. The high temperature on Thursday is expected to be near 43 degrees, according to forecasters.

Stillwater Prison Guard Charged With Intent to Deal Cocaine

A 20-year Stillwater prison guard was arrested in Wisconsin last week after a Wisconsin State Patrol officer found marijuana, cocaine and various paraphernalia in his car during a traffic stop on Interstate 90/94.

From the KARE-11 article: A criminal complaint says the trooper observed in plain view a "dugout/one hitter" pipe used to smoke marijuana. The trooper further searched the car and found more than 82 grams of cocaine (nearly 3 ounces), 7.7 grams of marijuana, a scale and a glass pipe for smoking crack cocaine or methamphetamine. UPDATE: Houlton Teen Identified as Victim in Fatal Crash on I-94 in Lakeland

A 16-year-old boy from Houton, Wis., died in a crash on I-94 near Stagecoach Trail Thursday evening in Lakeland, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 16-year-old boy from Houlton, Wis., died in a crash on I-94 near Stagecoach Trail Thursday evening in Lakeland. Jonathon H. Pohlen was traveling westbound on I-94 when he lost control of his vehicle due to snow on the roads, crossed over the median and collided with a semi-truck travelling eastbound on I-94, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Roger D. Wilkins, 51, of Eau Claire received minor injuries as a result of the crash. Video: A Snowy Spring Tornado Drill

There will be a second statewide drill at 6:55 p.m. Thursday.

Washington County Tornado Drill Day.  The statewide drills give schools, business, hospitals and other organizations a chance to practice their emergency plans.  Washington County will also conduct a second drill at 6:55 p.m. Don't know what to do? Dean Tilley, Radio System Manager with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said he has been doing this since 1996, and this is the first time he remembers snow falling during a tornado drill day.

Anti-Cyberbullying Forum Held in Stillwater

The East Metro Crime Prevention Coalition held a forum and training session in Stillwater on Wednesday focused on the problem of cyberbullying.

The East Metro Crime Prevention Coalition, according to a Pioneer Press article by Elizabeth Mohr. From Mohr's article: The forum featured speakers and presentations aimed at law enforcement officers, educators and attorneys.
