UPDATE: Chip Helps Find Owners of Basset Hound Lost Seen Near Stonebridge Elementary

A trip to the vet proved decisive in helping out the lucky puppy.

Update (2:30 p.m. Friday): A Good Samaritan and an ID chip have helped reunite a lost basset hound with his family in Stillwater Friday.

Nancy Fjestad saw the dog near Stonebridge Elementary School Friday morning. She posted that she'd seen the pup on the Stillwater Patch Facebook page. A short time later she took matters into her own hands and got the mystery solved, as she explained on Facebook

"The dogs owners have been notified and will pick him up after work. The micro chip was what helped him find his family. All is good. ... I took him to the vet and he was scanned for the chip. The scanner shows a unique number and the microchip companies were called to find who he is registered to."

The vet was Rivertown Animal Hospital. Another commenter posted that any veterinarian can scan for an ID chip.

Original post (11 a.m. Friday):

Do you know the people this dog belongs with?
