Cameron was born on June 15, 2006 with a condition called "situs invertus" where the abdominal organs in the body were flipped backward (stuff from the right on the left and left on the right), according to the CaringBridge site. Also, Cameron had both arteries leading out of the heart on the right chamber instead of one out of each chamber.

Before his heart surgery in May, Cameron was on an ECMO machine (which acts as a lung and heart) for nearly 200 days.
