Darn Knit Anyway, Valley Outreach Team Up to Restock Food Shelves

Shoppers at Darn Knit Anyway donating a nonperishable food item or $5 from April 11-14 will – while supplies last – receive a unique, collectible charm to commemorate participation in this year's iYarn@ 2013 event.

Hundreds of knitting and crocheting enthusiasts are expected to bring non-perishable food items to Darn Knit AnywayStillwater from April 11-14 as part of “iYarn@ 2013."

The shop hop—in its seventh year—is an event popularized in craft circles where participants tour and shop a series of retailers in a geographic during a limited period of time, Aimee Pelletier, owner of Darn Knit Anyway said.

The four-day event includes 16 Twin Cities Metro area locally owned, independent yarn shops.

“As a business with connections in the community, we’ve seen friends and neighbors impacted by the economy,” Pelletier said. “Collecting contributions for Valley Outreach as part of the iYarn@ 2013 shop hop event is a fun way that we all can demonstrate support for the community.”

Last year, shoppers participating in the metro-wide shop hop helped raise about 5,000 pounds of food and more than $4,700 in cash donations to their local food shelves. Darn Knit Anyway has set a goal to collect 500 pounds of food and $500 dollars.
