Help the Sobiech Family Remove a Fake Facebook Page Purporting to be Zach

In the age of social media, people do some unthinkable things online. In recent months, someone started a fake Facebook page for Zach Sobiech.

According to the fraudulent page, the account was started in January, and features a profile photo of Zach, and a Facebook Cover photo of the Sobiech family.

The page has more than 500 fans and has featured posts that are purported to be updates from Zach and his mother, Laura.

On several posts, Laura Sobiech has commented that this is a fake account, asked the administrator to remove the page and Facebook users to report it as a fake account.

“You have no right to pretend you are Zach,” a comment from Laura reads. “Anyone visiting this page should, please, report as fraud.”

Zach’s sister and friends have also asked people to report the page as fake.

“As Zach's sister, this page is one hundred percent fake,” Alli Shoemaker wrote. “Sad to see that someone would do this. Please refrain from liking this, and please help get it removed by reporting it.”

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, the page was still published on Facebook. To report a fake Facebook page, click on this link and follow the instructions.
