UPDATED: Stillwater Sisters Transported After Head-On Crash

A 20-year-old Stillwater woman, a 15-year-old passenger in her vehicle and a 46-year-old St. Paul man are all in "critical condition" after a head-on crash on Highway 5 in Lake Elmo Tuesday night.

Three people were transported to Regions Hospital in critical condition Tuesday night after a head-on crash near Highway 5 and Stillwater Lane in Lake Elmo.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol:

Marah F. Sobczak, 20, of Stillwater, was driving her 2004 Honda Civic on Highway 5 just after 9 p.m. when a Buick driven by Jon R. Wentz, 46, of St. Paul, crossed over the median into the eastbound lane and struck her vehicle head-on, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The two drivers, and a passenger in the Stillwater woman’s vehicle, Kalley A Sobczak, 15, of Stillwater, were each transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

A spokesperson at Regions Hospital this morning said Kalley Sobczak is listed in "fair" condition, while Wentz remains "critical."

Marah Sobczak's updated condition was not immediately available.

According to the Pioneer Press, the Sobczak sisers were on their way home when the accident occurred.

Marah Sobczak is a student at Gustavus Adolfus College.

"This was her last week home before going back to school," her brother told the Pioneer Press. The whole family -- the sisters are two of seven siblings -- had planned to attend the Minnesota State Fair together Wednesday.

Details of the crash have not yet been released. The State Patrol is reconstructing the scene of the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office closed the roadway shortly after 9 p.m. The roadway has reopened.
