Stillwater Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly made a bomb threat after robbing US Bank in downtown Stillwater.

David Michael Tyler, 64, of Cheboygan, Mich., was arrested Saturday morning after a short chase. The St. Paul bomb squad removed a black briefcase from US Bank at about 2 p.m., and then searched the area of Tyler’s vehicle.

Tyler stayed at the nearby Lowell Inn Friday night, walked into US Bank at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday and handed a bank employee a note, Stillwater Police Chief John Gannaway said. Tyler was arrested by police within two blocks of the bank as he attempted to get into a vehicle in an alley west of Main Street and south of Commercial Street.
