The Stillwater Police have been called to a few strange incidents over the past week.

Here’s a collection of a few of those calls:

  • On June 17, police were called to the TCF Bank at Cub Foods to investigate a “suspicious package that was left inside the bank.” The officers arrived and took the package to a home on Third Street North, where a resident said she was shopping and “simply forgot about the package.”
  • On June 17, police were called to the skatepark for a report of property damage. Police arrived and took photos of graffiti that read: “187, Cop Killer,” a swastika and numerous swear words spray painted on ramps throughout the park.
  • On June 18, police were called to Beverly’s Curiosity Shoppe on Market Drive for a report of a “small animal originally thought to be a badger that wandered into the store.” When police arrived, the officers determined the animal to be a woodchuck. The woodchuck was caught in a live trap and released into a wooded area outside city limits.
  • On June 18, police were called to a report of a young deer that tried to jump a fence in the 800 block of Third Street, but didn’t make it. “The deer attempted to jump the fence, hit its head on a metal pole and fell to the ground.” Police dispatched of the deer.
  • On June 26 a resident in the 6400 block of Panama Avenue North called police to report a robin with baby birds in a nest on the patio. “Every time they play in the backyard mama bird swoops down and tries to attack him,” the report reads. Police advised the homeowner to call the DNR.
