Rep. Lohmer Assigned to Task Force on Substance Abuse

Rep. Kathy Lohmer (R-Stillwater) has been assigned by DFL House Speaker Paul Thissen to the Select Committee on Controlled Substances and Synthetic Drugs.
This committee will examine drug abuse issues in Minnesota and will recommend policies to combat the spread of the sale of synthetic drugs across the state. The committee plans to issue a report with recommendations for the 2014 legislative session.

“I was honored to be recently appointed to the Select Committee on Controlled Substances and Synthetic Drugs," Lohmer said. "This is an extremely serious problem in our state and I’m looking forward to finding solutions to prevent our young people from enduring the devastating effects of these illegal drugs."
Members of the committee are scheduled to be in Duluth on Friday, June 7 to attend a public hearing on synthetic drug abuse hosted by Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson.
Other committee members of the committee include Rep. Erik Simonson (DFL-Duluth) who will chair the committee, Rep. Jim Newberger (R-Becker), Rep. Dan Schoen (DFL-St. Paul Park), and Rep. John Ward (DFL-Baxter).
