State of MN Set to Put $1.25M Toward Buying Aiple Property in Stillwater

The Minnesota Legislative-Citizens Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) decided to award the funds Wednesday, St. Croix 360 reported.

Stillwater's public riverfront may have just gotten a whole lot bigger.

A State of Minnesota commission recommended Wednesday that $1.25 million in state funds go to Washington County to buy 16 acres north of downtown, next to the Brown’s Creek Trail, including 4,000 feet of shoreline—from Elayne Aiple.

St. Croix 360 first reported the news Wednesday evening that the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) had approved the grant award for the Stillwater land purchase.

“It’s an opportunity for the city to significantly expand its riverfront,” Stillwater Mayor Ken Harycki said in January. “It will be important to do something with that piece of land.”

At that time the estimated market value of the 16-acre property, including 4,000 feet of shore land, was $1.056 million, according to city records. The land's estimated value is $725,600, while the house on the property is valued at $331,200.
