"Water has been observed traveling far onto shore causing erosion and possibly pulling nutrients and sediments into the lake, affecting lake quality," a news release from the city of Lake Elmo reads. "This is to be a strictly enforced no wake order—boaters ignoring the order will be subject to fine."
A no-wake zone has also been enacted on the St. Croix River from Taylors Falls to Prescott. That no-wake rule is expected to be in place through the Fourth of July.
