Snow Gets Real, Election Day, Used Book Sale: The Week Ahead in Stillwater

Election Day is Tuesday—and snow is in the forecast late that day.

It could be a week to remember in Stillwater, with as much as 4–8 inches of snow on Election Day Tuesday, and a possible decision on a new summer festival on Thursday.

With any luck the snow, predicted for Tuesday night, will fall after polls close, although it may start raining in mid-afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a Winter Storm Watch Sunday for parts of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It's in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Polls in the Stillwater Area Public School District will be open from 7 a.m.–8 p.m. on Tuesday for voters to cast referendum ballots on the proposed levy.

On Thursday, the Stillwater City Council is set to select one from among four proposals for a new summer festival to replace Lumberjack Days.

Also on Thursday, the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library Fall Used Book Sale begins.
